Today is September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day.
I want every single one of you who is reading this to know how FUCKING important you are. Life gets tough, trust me I know. Sometimes your life spirals out of control. You have no control over what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. There will be times you don't have control over what IS happening in the present. Your feelings, anxiety, depression, thoughts... We DON'T have control over them sometimes, but please just listen to me. You should NEVER feel like a burden. Someone out there loves you, even if you don't know it. Honestly, there are times I have felt guilty for being sad or felt like a burden for reaching out... but reaching out to people IS an act of strength. And if you are at such a low point in your life where it comes to the point of isolation, those around you need to make that EFFORT to check in. It's not just World Suicide Day, it is World Suicide PREVENTION Day which means we have to be on the look out for these signs of social isolation, loss of interest, hopelessness and substance abuse... The "Yea I'm fine dw" response when someone asks if you're okay... CMON we've all been there because we don't want to EXPLAIN our situation or EXPRESS our feelings, but explanation and expression IS strength. When you keep it in, negative thoughts and anxiety, you won't be able to stop it. That is when you start to sink into this isolation, but at that VERY moment, just try and take everything you have to reach out. Talking is not weak. Individuals who show that they are not afraid of vulnerability or expressing their emotions ARE the strongest. Humans have emotions and the norm is to not feel, but without expression comes depression and just saying that shit is real. Tell someone you love them today.
